Museum of Broken Relationships
Museum of personal heartbreak stories in Kulmer Palace
The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is one of the city’s most unique and thought-provoking attractions. Located in the historic Kulmer Palace in Upper Town, the museum invites visitors on an emotional journey through stories of love, loss, and healing. Each exhibit features a personal object donated by someone from around the world, accompanied by a heartfelt story that captures the complexity of human relationships—whether romantic, familial, or platonic.
Open daily (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in winter, and until 10:00 p.m. in summer), the museum is accessible for a modest fee: 7 € for adults, 5.50 € for students, seniors, and people with disabilities, and 5 € per person for groups of 15 or more with advance booking. Captions are provided in both Croatian and English, with additional translations available, making the experience accessible to international visitors.
A visit typically takes less than an hour, but many find themselves lingering over the poignant displays, reflecting on their own experiences and the universal nature of heartbreak and resilience. The museum has earned a Travelers’ Choice award and is consistently praised for its originality, emotional impact, and creative approach to storytelling.
Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, the Museum of Broken Relationships offers a memorable and deeply human perspective on the ties that bind—and sometimes break—us all.
