Golubinjak Forest Park in Lokve is a tranquil retreat in Croatia’s Gorski Kotar region, celebrated for its lush woodlands, clean air, and dramatic karst landscapes. Spanning 51 hectares, the park is a haven for nature lovers and families seeking a peaceful escape from urban life. Visitors are greeted by a vast green clearing framed by towering firs and striking white cliffs, creating a picturesque setting in every season.
One of the park’s highlights is the “Queen of the Forest,” a majestic fir tree over 250 years old and soaring 42 meters high. Well-marked trails wind through the forest, including the Mountain Paradise Tourist trail, Panoramic trail, and the 10.82-kilometer Cave Trail, which leads to fascinating karst formations and caves such as Dimnjačarova and Lokvarka. Educational boards along the paths offer insights into the park’s unique geology and biodiversity.
Golubinjak is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00, with an admission fee of €4.00 (children under 15 enter free). Amenities include a children’s playground, a multipurpose sports court, and grill rentals for picnics—advance reservations are recommended for grills. The park is also equipped for group visits, offering guided tours for larger parties.
