Cable car to Mount Srd with panoramic Adriatic views

7.1/10
#2 of 7 in Dubrovnik

The Dubrovnik Cable Car is one of the city’s most popular attractions, offering visitors a swift and scenic ascent from just outside the Old Town to the summit of Mount Srd. The journey covers 778 meters and takes about four minutes, delivering passengers to an elevation of 405 meters above sea level. From the top, the panoramic views are breathtaking—on clear days, you can see up to 60 kilometers, taking in the iconic red rooftops of Dubrovnik’s Old City, the sparkling Adriatic Sea, and the surrounding islands.

Originally opened in 1969, the cable car quickly became a symbol of Dubrovnik’s modern tourism. It was damaged during the 1991 siege but was fully renovated and reopened in 2010, now featuring bright orange cabins and modern amenities. At the summit, visitors can explore the historic fortress, enjoy a meal or drink at the Panorama Restaurant & Bar, and browse souvenir shops. The area also offers hiking trails and activities such as a Buggy Safari, while a free summer program features evening entertainment including live music and film screenings.

The lower station is easily reached from the Old Town, either by steps or a short walk from Ploče Gate. The cable car operates daily from 9:00 AM to midnight, making it a great option for both daytime sightseeing and sunset views. For those seeking a memorable perspective on Dubrovnik, the cable car is an essential experience.
